BitchX is a VERY heavily modified ircII client. It includes many things such as built in flood protection, etc. It is easier to script things in BitchX because unlike plain, vanilla ircII, half the script does not have to be devoted to changing the appearance of ircII.
All in all, its the BEST out there!
Screening BitchX
BitchX itself is a very simple IRC client to use. Most users want to run BitchX and keep it online when they go offline. This is very simple to do, follow the steps below.
Once connected to your shell account, type:
screen BitchX yourNick irc.server.com -H the.vhost.you.want.com
Now you can simply “detach” the BitchX by holding CTRL and pressing A and then D. You can now safely logout from your shell account and the BitchX will stay online. When you are ready to come back online, to simply resume the BitchX type: screen -r That will bring you back to the irc screen and you will be exactly were you last left off.
Using BitchX in Multiple Channels
When using BitchX you only have one window so to change your default window back and forth between channels, you can do so by holding down the CTRL and pressing X.
